Psychopath is the term used to denote people in business who lie, cheat and steal without conscience to get ahead. It is a survival mechanism that evolved.

I note it is prevalent amongst people who do not display aggression, but use subtrefuge effectively. It serves to reward pure power over competence at problem solving.

Most companies/countries because of this end up with bosses with an intellectual deficit who are skilled at manipulating people to get their ends. At the other end of the spectrum are intellectual problem solvers who cannot see the practicality/impracticality or economic use of their inventions or who are forced to sell their knowledge ill-formed at too early a stage to self same money/people masters.

The art of bloodless back stabbing to get ahead is admired in the skule of amerikan business. It is called the art of effective management.

How do you combat this? With skilled lying cheating and misinformation. Fight fire with fire. The trick is to see sycophancy and collaboration for what it is. Snake survival tactics. Never tell a colleague how to do anything unless the explanation is seeded with egregious errors that a right thinking person could avoid. In order to avoid intellectually superior psychos, (there are many..) tell them that the process is under investigation by experts and you are following it closely. When asked what you did or think about A or B, tell them it has to revealed at conference and you must check your notes. Always tape conversations with employees.
