You make a lot of good points.

I think you came pretty close to stating my position correctly, though I have never believed that speculators alone were to blame for current prices. I believe you are correct that the oil market isn't exactly "free", and I would add that it's certainly not transparent.

Thus, I agree with you that it is a market that is susceptible to manipulation.

I also believe that speculators are having some effect on oil prices (because they are dumping huge amounts of cash into the market) and that we may be seeing a market bubble.
