I think "impute" wasn't the word you meant, but I think I know what you DID mean.

Others have raised the comparison numerous times, and I think it is a good one, so I'll re-used it:

Would it raise serious doubts about the candidacy of a person who had socialized with David Duke over the last 7 or 8 years, where Duke had gotten the candidate a job in the past, and if the candidate had kicked off his political career standing on David Duke's front porch? Would you now be saying, "Oh, well, David Duke USED to be a White Supremacist, but today, he's just an Ex-white supremacist"? I think not.

There are some things that that just aren't forgiven so easily.

For a clear thinking person, abject racism and terrorism are two of those things. To reiterate, we are NOT dealing with a "suspected" terrorist.
