Have you taken the stock option liability out of MSFT's cash position? It's still a huge amount left over, but I think they're going to need it as the amount thrown off from continuing operations declines going forward (IMO from factors I see in 1998).
I personally think SUNW is positioned well for the future, and MSFT is in scramble mode. The media biz is low margin, and that's going to be more of their operational results going forward. They are fragmenting Java because it is a serious threat to their franchise, as seen in the open letter concerning standards. The internet will be accessed from so many different computing devices, and most of the portable ones will be java based, not Windows CE. That is their greatest fear as the value of the global network grows, and major computing moves away from the desktop.
Your previous post did not make it to me. Anything of consequence?
