Anyone besides me see the front page of USA TODAY regarding genital herpes?? It refers to an article released this morning in the New England Journal of Medicine. Although we can't get the actual article on line w/o a subscription, we can get the editorial at the NEJM website nejm.org it says dx methods for clinical mgmt of HSV-2 "are limited" "Type specific assays for HSV antibodies are not yet available for clinical use. Commercial laboratories often report serologic results according to viral type, but these assays do not differentiate between antibodies elicited by HSV-1 and HSV-2 infection" I faxed this editorial to Qdel today-they hadn't seen it yet. I think it dovetails nicely with their recent announcement about the new Glaxo/Quidel collaboration on herpes test Also, earnings will be out next week on Wednesday, 10-22-97 - conference call will be held at 1:15 Pacific time (4:15 EST just after thre close of the market). Hope it is good news!!!!!
