Lots of people smoked marijuana (and took LSD) in the 60's in order to find meaning and purpose. I remember lots of conversations in college about the meaning of meaning and the purpose of purpose. I was in the last draft (lottery) for Vietnam. No way was I going. "Hell no, we won't go, we won't fight for Texaco." I had my bags packed the night before and was splitting to Canada, if I was called.

I spent the first 23 years of my life desperately searching for meaning, then I found it instantly when I became a father.

Interesting, but whenever I talk to my right wing, flag waving clients about the Iraq war they are quick to tell me that they would never let their children go over there and fight. Very revealing.
