I don't know about "more" and won't have that debate (it ends up in the kind of nonsense CJ was posting a couple weeks ago).
But it was "different", and that's what I was referring to. Qualitatively, terrorists are much more sophisticated today than they were at that time, so it is far more difficult to fight them.
For example, at the time, they used only the crudest weapons and tactics; today, they evolved first to IEDs, then to shaped charges, and now are using Explosively Formed Penetrators. After morphing to using RF to detonate IEDs, we became effective at jamming them, so they retreated to using hardwired devices. The point is, they evolved and continue to do so.
Certainly, since just after the Iraq war began, the incidence of terror against Americans on our soil has been stopped in its tracks. The enemies' efforts are, instead, being poured into Iraq I suppose. |
