Al Qaeda is a product of CIA secret wars, and will disappear when we quit engaging in such meddlesome affairs. There is a reason that the U.S. used to win wars - clear through WWII. That is because the army stayed in a defensive posture until war was upon us. Only then did the military take the offense.

Now with Korea, Vietnam, and the two Bush wars we try to keep our "toe in the water" making a continuous presence into a war. That means the opponent adapts right along and we are stuck fighting in a place and way that the opponent has grown up with.

It will be better if we withdraw nearly all our forces from Korea, Europe, and the Middle East. Maintain a reasonable defense and above all, avoid foreign entanglements. If war comes, it will either be over in 15 minutes, or the U.S. can overwhelmingly kick-ass again because it is not already stretched by endless forward bases.
