>>Al Qaeda has been weakened greatly in Iraq.

Its strongest in Pakistan, particularly the tribal/border areas. It is apparently getting stronger there, but that doesn't amount to "its stature has never been greater".<<

Tim -

I already agreed that Al Qaeda in Iraq has been weakened. But since Al Qaeda in Iraq didn't even exist before we invaded, it's hard to regard its weakening as a net positive.

And no, I don't think it's fair to say "It's stature has never been greater." And I didn't say that. I said that recent evidence seems to indicate that it is resurgent.

Again, do you have any reliable evidence to show that Al Qaeda, the original one, currently based in Pakistan, is not currently growing stronger?
