I had to put down 2 beautiful German Shepherds, both about a year apart. The first one due to old age and considerable arthritis. The second developed stomach cancer and was only about 4 years old. I decided, as enjoyable as the dogs were, it's too heartbreaking to put them down. I haven't had a pet in the last 28 years and no plans to change that.
