Bob's come out a whole lot of times on the subject of the P4 & Intel's other failure of the last 10 years.

I admire the man. Obviously more knowledgeable in his field than I was in mine, by far. Very smart, very practical.

I suspect that if Intel management and Bob hadn't had their *SPAT* they'd both be better off today. Intel more than Bob, IMO, but who can tell?

As I watched the link I was struck by his point that when you have a design that's ready, if the fabs are ready, you have to put it into production.

And I well remember saying, shortly after the P4 came out, that the P-III was better design and should have been continued.

I guess it took 'till C2D to get it to production within performance specs. Another 2 generations of manufacturing? But once there it was, and is, pretty spectacular.
