There is no technologial nor financial barrier to exploiting these reserves fullbore. Its being done ... on a much smaller scale than it could be. They can be exploited cheaper than Canada's oil sands. And their oil sands industry is being expanded as we speak.


What is wrong with you? If it were financially suitable, they would be extracting the oil from the oil sands in VZ. The fact that they aren't is an important data point. BTW I follow stocks that extract oil from the oil sands in Canada and they have yet to see a profit. That may change this quarter but it hasn't happened yet. And those sands are on the surface......not buried like in VZ.
