Somewhat OT: Despite being a hard-core Republican, I almost want the Democrats to have it all so that they can, in a minimum of 4 years, have the House, Senate, and Executive, and no excuses whatsoever for fixing the energy crisis (yeah, I will be biking to work). If they think they can do it with solar cells alone we shall see. But by then America will wisen up to the fact that nuclear, coal, oil, wind, solar, ethanol, and who knows what is yet to come, might actually work if you get the lunatics out of the airwaves. America needs balanced views and a little of its own medicine, not the least of which the elite liberal media. Even so, I doubt they will ever admit mistakes and fall on their own sword. Too much arrogance to go around on both sides o the aisle. They will find a way to blame someone else.
IMO the cure is to get rid of the entrenchment by instituting term limits. Yep, we'll lose a lot of good people along with the good, but then again, there are many more good people who are willing to compromise. For those that don't believe there will be continuity, just look at the cemetery: it is filled with irreplaceable people. Life just goes on.
BTW, I can't wait for the joint town hall meetings to take place. That will be the determining litmus test for me to measure and contrast the candidates. |
