They could all be wrong, you could be right. -g-

Maybe, but look back at eugenics, which in the 1930's had huge "scientific" and popular political support until of course Hitler started to actually practise it! It certainly fell from the "best idea list" pretty quickly didn't it.

"Global warming" seems similar in that there is way too much politics and way too little science in most of those well publicised "consensus" outpourings from international conferences which are little more than travel junkets for the participants... If anyone raises genuine doubts they won't be invited to the next one and their very generous funding will be cut off to boot, so they all go along with the charade. Carbon trading is certainly going to be good for the "carbon" traders, but I doubt it will affect the environment in any positive way...

Don't get me wrong. I do believe that replacing limited fossils fuels with other alternatives is a good idea and that CO2 levels in the atmosphere have increased recently but I am not convinced that the rise in CO2 has caused any significant increase in the overall temperature of the planet. Concentrating on CO2 sequestration and carbon trading instead of getting on with developing better sources of energy is simply taking your eye off the ball IMO. It's also a lovely aim for scoring political points, in that they can be seen to be doing "something"; the effectiveness can never be measured, and their supporters in the banks and trading houses get rich trading a phantom concept of dubious value and without even looking at the safety aspects.

How many papers have you seen that advocate carbon sequestration that indicted that there are dangers involved in unplanned CO2 releases or have referenced or mentioned the Lake Nyos incident and its results or any of the other similar occurences? I haven't seen one. Please link any that I may have missed.
