I think we're talking about some brand of "rhetorical power". But this will carry Iran a very short distance if Israel (or Bush) decides enough is enough. The real power rests with the United States and it continues to be an order of magnitude beyond anyone else's. The only problem is our political system detracts mightily from the real power that is possessed by the nation.
