gvatty That is not quote of Paul O. It is editorial license from the author. Assume an oem buys 800,000 Intel chips each quarter and 200,000 AMD chips each quarter. I can see an Intel salesperson saying if you buy 1 million chips from us I will give you a rebate of x. The rebate wouldn't have to connected to a promise of exclusivity the rebate could apply if the oem buys 900,000 or 950,000 chips from Intel. The oem could then decide they might as well go all-Intel so they don't have to buy the AMD motherboards and other peripherals. Yes, they could couldn't they. Does that make it illegal? I don't know and you don't know but some self anointed expert here will certainly claim he knows.
