I beg to differ. Polls are showing that an overwhelming number of voters currently side with Democrats on all the important issues of the campaign. Obama's views pretty much line up with the standard Democratic positions on those issues.

That would seem to place issues on the list of Obama's strengths, along with those you have already cited.
