I guess it's possible to lock in a gain, pay 15%, then repurchase the stock immediately and after 30 days or so one could claim a short term loss, should that happen. But somehow these tax maneuvers always seem to go wrong for me. Worst thing was getting hit with the 2006 Halloween massacre by the Canadian Tory PM, Harper, although the payouts have remained as high as they would be anyway. Sold Eenergy Split and went into the Brompton fund AOG.UN . Turns out I never had to sell Energy Split anyway since they extended the life of the fund. So I paid in 15% of a lot of money in needless taxes.

What's the reserve life of SJT and HGT now?
