A comment on "diversity". I have much of my portfolio in semi-equip stocks to my current regret. Although many of these stocks appear to be bargains at today's prices, the current cycle in the semiconductor industry indicates that most of the equip makers and their stocks are unlikely to do well for the next several quarters. Thus, the amount of diversity to pursue depends on the length of your investing horizon. If you want to hold for the next year, some of the semi-equip stocks look tempting.

I think that the best way to play this situation may be to avoid the big front-end equipment makers such as Applied Materials, Lam Research, etc. and look at equip. companies which can help semi mfrs become more efficient and lower their production costs. These would include automation companies and testing companies. In the former, I own Brooks but also like PRI Automation. In the testing/quality control field, I own KLA and Tencor. Just my thoughts.
