Do these hi-compression engines develop less power on lower octane feeding?

Modern knock sensors will retard the ignition timing to compensate on high compression engines when they sense low octane fuel. You'll save a few cents at the pump using regular, but your vehicle will take a slight hit both in power and fuel economy..
