Any new lands opened up wouldn't bring new oil online for 5 years and the amounts they'd bring online would add only negligible supply and decrease gas prices by insignificant amounts. I hate to say this, but there is no one solution to long term gas prices. Keep repeating that nonsense. The democrats' solution is to double or triple the price of gasoline. They've already doubled it since taking the majority in 2006. Oil went down yesterday because republicans blocked the democrats efforts to screw more Americans. Oil went up today because democrats blocked republicans wanting to help Americans. futures.tradingcharts.com It is the fault of the democrats.
