The subject of micro-algae production and utilization is much farther along than anyone realizes. Using a strain like Chlorella, you don't even have to convert it to Biofuels - it's worth hundreds of dollars per Ton as a premium animal feed additive with the leftovers going into distributed energy via AD.

What I found rather humorous was that, opposed to feeding a hog like Rosie O'Donnell to produce fats for oil, you have to starve the micro-algae after it blooms to get it to convert its nutrients to lipids which may be converted to oil. Go figure..........
