I just believe it was highly short sighted for the Democratic leaders to allow two of their core constituents to battle it out for the nomination.

And they were supposed to do what, make one of them withdraw when one didn't win after Super Tuesday? Weren't they already jumped on for not letting every vote count equally?

How exactly is a party leadership supposed to control and dictate a democratic (small d) primary process? Is there a magic control panel buried deep in DNC headquarters?

This same issue came up about "vetting" the candidates in advance, like there is a Party Screening Committee full of commissars who have to issue an official political clearance before anyone can run.

It's a messy process, and pretty much always has been.
