Carter warned us about the present. The mess he made! What did the Democrat congress or Republican congress do in the 80s? 90s...this century? Only recently alternative energy has been embraced. 10 years of research and mostly because it is profitable or can be. Just like in the time of Carter, people only react to NOW. What is a present problem. Government just gets in the way. So do people who don't want drilling that could ease the transition.
