Those were not ultra liberal ideas, in fact today's Democrat Party is far more radical than FDR, JFK or Harry Truman. The party has been usurped by socialists verging on Marxists in the form of the Obamessiah.

Moderate liberalism of the past was responsible for millions of births to women who subsisted on welfare checks. Ultimately that government handout encouraged the fathers to irresponsibly ignore their own families, which led to hordes of brutal gangs and their rampant crime. All as a result of one stupid liberal government program.
