You and I might agree with that, DMA, but the Dems and many Repubs certainly don't.

And actually, because I study history as well as genealogy, I know that even in the 20th century, sometimes when a woman's husband died, leaving her with children under 16-18 years of age, she had to find a court approved guardian who was male.

The male didn't have to live with the family, but did guarantee to pay basic expenses if need be.

Just look how many of our own ancestors had only one parent left to raise the children. Many times, it was the man who was left, so he had to immediately marry so as to have a "nanny" for the children.
