well, they both hit their lows on the same day in January and again in March and their highs together in Feb and May. They could now disconnect, it's true, as they did during some of 2006 (when the XAX went choppy and the SPX rose), though that was in the middle of a long impulsive move on the SPX.

I'll agree with you that the XAX looks vulnerable on the daily and even moreso on the weekly.
