I believe six billion people on this Earth have an effect on the environment, but to resist climate change in general is folly.

The climate is in constant change. Higher levels of CO2 just shifts the equilibrium. If that means the globe will end up a few degrees warmer than it would have been without us, we'll just have to adapt.
