A tired trailing candidate may fall victim to gaffes, blunders or worse

A tired stressed president may fall victim to gaffes, blunders or worse. Not sure I follow your argument. As a candidate, McCain can take days or time off if needed, as a president there is no such opportunity should the country need an alert functioning president in a time of acute stress. ......Take Iran for instance. A tired stressed president might make a blunder there that a fresh mind might not. My father at McCains age had lost a bunch of his judgement and stamina - and he didn't have to go through the stress of running for president. After four years of being president, McCain would likely look and feel more like 90 than 75.
