>> From what I have been able to gather it will cost at least $1400 dollars to install and setup one customer. That is $500 for the Customer modem, $500 for the CO modem and another $400 dollars in installation a follow up service calls. <<
Lets quote the JPC and the Bell Atlantic contracts. I still contend the cost for the equipment is in the $500-$600 range per line. Can I ask why you selected $400 for installation charges? I would contend those costs would be similar to the ISDN installation costs. I don't think the RBOC's charge $400 for ISDN installation. In fact "I hear" it's easier to install the ADSL modem.
Doesn't depreciation for this equipment span 3 years? $550 / 36 months = ~$16/month for the equipment.

....Bell Atlantic is not releasing projections of lines under this contract; indeed, Bell Atlantic says the contract with DSC does not explicitly name volumes but does lock Bell Atlantic into a price point at certain volumes points that is consistent with the $500-$600 range mentioned on Westell's quarterly earnings call on May 15. "That's [the $500-$600 price point] an excellent price and our contract is in that ballpark," says Frank Nelson, Director for Consumer Data Products for Bell Atlantic....

JPC ..Nearly 60 companies replied to the JPC's RFP. Of those 60, Alcatel, Ericcson, Westell were named finalists with Alcatel emerging the winner. While some details surrounding the announcement remain to be seen, sources close to RFP indicate that Alcatel is aiming to supply ADSL equipment that will enable per line costs of about $300. The order is expected to be worth up to $300 million...
