Strategic management of the nations economy for the sake of materialistic stability and prosperity is one among many issues lain at the feet of political leaders. However, addictive and narcissistic conduct is associated with an over concern for materialism and is also at the root of societal ills such as war, crime, poverty, oppression, bigotry, and genocide. For this reason leadership and the public consciousness must be more broadly balanced regarding concerns for the noble interests of humanity.
Materialism, lacking any spiritual, intellectual, or cultural value outside the accumulation of wealth, does not offer a proper justification for human existence...and so, it leads those corrupted by materialistic compulsions to a life of frustration, or even suicidal despondencies (death wishes/fears). |
