The increase might be $40 over 2 years - I think over $100 is too high.

The data plan will increase by $10/month = $120/year = $240/2 years

The iPhone is $200 cheaper. So the increase appears to be $40 over 2 years.

Of course if you buy the $300 iPhone, which is not equivalent to the iPhone available now, then it will cost over $100 more in 2 years.
