Probably, the line will be something like -- Yes, Iraq is a victory, BUT 1) at a great cost 2) the war was unnecessary and 3) much of the fighting and suffering occurred because Bush provoked otherwise peaceful Muslims. Those who believe them will be happy to welcome those, or any other lies. Already happening. The current line on the Surge seems to be -- Well, yes, the surge worked, but at too high a cost and we've been there five years already, it's time to leave, how dare you say the surge worked but we can't pull out this minute?! The trick is to quietly shift position without ever admitting you were wrong. If the press is your friend, they will never call you on it, and will do their best to block your political opponents from doing so either.
