Oh for heaven's sake, why are you carping about this like it's something new or horrid? Lawsuits have been used for this kind of purpose for centuries now. Not just in this country. Has it gotten more sophisticated and common? Most likely--people have gotten more sophisticated, and money is available for any political perspective, right, left or center.
