That's the fundamental misunderstanding here. The Justices who voted with the majority in this case are trying to protect innocent people who have been apprehended by mistake. Habeas Corpus is a fundamental legal principle that protects the innocent, and is one of the most important pillars of our entire justice system. I don't think affirming it has anything to do with a pissing contest. - Allen
