GA,

I wish you luck. If you go for the mad rose version, they are well into the 150's now. And, unfortunately the wild Mad Rose wood is just about used up. Now they are using a muted Mad Rose stock that just does not have the color the good stuff used for the first 150 models had. The tone is still there, but the looks are not as good.

People will look back in five more years and realize that Mad Rose is the new Brazilian and the only equal tonewood in sonic qualities. It will disappear just like the Brazilian has and cost 4-5k for each back and sides set. Get it cheap while you can.

My invoice from Collings listed my upcharge to substitute Indian Rosewood with Brazilian at just over 4k. I think I got a deal actually. Mad Rose will be the same.

With that said, the mahogany sounds very good too, and I actually prefer the clarity. And it is cheaper!

Good Luck
