"THE GTE MODEL is, merge GTE and MCI together
and develop a global partnership with BT," Lee told
reporters following a meeting with analysts. The GTE chief
did not outline details of such a partnership.

"You don't surprise your friends and partners."
He declined to elaborate on how MCI and BT, which
have a $21 billion merger pact, became aware of the
looming bid.

He has told us there is a global plan which no one is capable of figuring out so quickly. I believe there is an over reaction to this
move because of the probable partnership.

A week ago everyone was praising the strong management of GTE, today they have forgotten their pitch of last week. I think GTE most likely has more of this figured out than the quick to pitch analysts.
