half-witted and barely effective panoply of "prevention": aspirin, statin drug, anti-hypertensive medication. Readers of The Heart Scan Blog and members of Track Your Plaque know that this conventional approach is as effective as aspirin for a fractured hip.

As aspirin for a fracture? With respect, this is plain misinformation. The "conventional" approach is based on a multitude of objective studies which compared different treatments and preventive measures - and identified the best we have. Most of the "off the beaten track" claims are little more than opinions, and lack support.
