"But that doesn't change the fact that the oil companies are currently able to fill every order they get,"

but they don't get orders from people priced out of the market. They aren't even considered part of the demand by economists. I first saw countries running into problems 2 years ago, when oil hit $65. Maybe 12 countries. Second round appeared to drop out around 80 bucks.

Currently, 102 regions on the energy shortage list, up one more since the last time I posted it.

Argentina: Por los cortes de ruta, comenzó a sentirse la falta combustible

The oil companies acknowledged the existence of problems of various kinds, ranging from a decrease in refining crude oil (Shell) and logistical difficulties because of cut routes (YPF, Petrobras and Esso). YPF said they had difficulties last week when the plants were blockaded at refineries in St. Lawrence (Santa Fe) and Junin (Buenos Aires).

Pakistan: Petrol shortage hits Karachi

Acute petrol shortage has hit Karachi as oil marketing companies, other than the Pakistan State Oil (PSO), have reduced the supply of POL products to dealers.

Sources said on Friday that smaller OMCs had reduced the supply of both diesel and petrol throughout Pakistan.

United Kingdom: Fuel strike: Shell drivers threaten more action

A four-day walkout this weekend has stopped supplies to one forecourt in ten and forced Gordon Brown to issue a plea to motorists not to panic-buy fuel.

Despite earlier reassurances that garages had enough supplies to last them through the dispute, queues were building up at some forecourts and several petrol stations had run dry.
