John McCain only reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander when he was captured and effectively ended his military career. Now that sounds like an important rank, but it is only a couple of promotions out of school for a Navy officer (Similar to Major). If he had been a ship officer he might have been managing a work gang or two. He wasn't. He was a pilot. He got his promotions for learning how to fly various aircraft.

In his entire career with the navy he never managed a single person other than himself. He was never a leader. At most he could claim to be competent. I don't know why anyone would think he has experience to manage the country when he hasn't actually managed anyone beyond his gardner or chauffeur.
