I think some people confuse the fact that most real scientists working in meteorology are 1. convinced global warming is happening, and that humans are contributing to it (although they argue about extent), and 2. are pretty concerned, with "religion". People have the same odd reaction to evolution teachings- and they call that religion too, but it's not. The nice thing about science is that it can be proved wrong- and that IS the point of it, it's composed of theories and hypotheses- you can't say that about things like the Bible that are taken on faith. There is no "bible hypothesis" or "god hypothesis" for the religious, which they are willing to see proved wrong. People who wish something were not true often call the other side "religious" about beliefs, but what they really mean is, the other side thinks they are right- and oddly enough in this debate the GW deniers actually have less evidence on their side, so if anyone really were religious, ironically it would be them- but a better way to put it is that both sides are quite convinced they are right.
