And I'm sure they'll improve on the 7 miles on a charge thing. But in the meantime, that still means you could make quick trips to the local Quik E Mart wiithout using a drop of gas. And if you use gas only on two-thirds of the trip to and from your son's school, that's still something, isn't it? The car is said to reduce overall energy usage by 20 to 30%, which includes the electricity you use in charging it. Toyota's Synergy Drive is so good that Nissan is leasing the technology from them. It's said to be far superior to the Honda hybrid system. How GM will do, I don't know, but they are joining the race late. As for cost, the current Prius starts at about $21,500. The plug-in version may be slightly more, but no pricing is available for it yet. - Allen
