(NASDAQ:COHU) Thursday announced that sales for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 1997, were $52.8 million, an increase of 52 percent from $34.8 million for the third quarter of 1996, an increase of 18 percent from $44.6 million for the second quarter of 1997. Net income for the third quarter of 1997 was $8.5 million, an increase of 64 percent from $5.2 million for the third quarter of 1996 and an increase of 23 percent from $6.9 million for the second quarter of 1997. Net income per share was 85 cents per share in the third quarter of 1997, up from 54 cents per share in 1996 and 70 cents per share in the second quarter of 1997."
