Yes the sugar cane in the US is marginal compared to the Brazilian. Then again I was surprised that Japan was indirectly subsidizing California rice growers :O) Beets like Europe.. there's an idea.

Point is that if you are going to use ethanol.. Corn is not the way. I agree with you on the fertiliser etc. and I think the jury is really still out on covering Brazil in sugar cane to produce enough ethanol to support the US... (I have my doubts). Likely it will turn out to be another 'sounded like a good idea at the time' ... those pesky unintended consequences .. like how exploration expenses have skyrocketed with commodity costs.. whodathunkit :O)

In any event I do have a lot of fert investments ... for now..

Imagine an ethanol pipeline spill... bring your favourite mix ;o)
