Well, let's see:
nhpr.org Obama says there's no reason to give the president's troop surge more time.
"Here's what we know. The surge has not worked. And they said today, 'Well, even in September, we're going to need more time.' So we're going to kick this can all the way down to the next president, under the president's plan."

He certainly predicted failure: americanthinker.com
"I cannot in good conscience support this escalation. It is a policy which has already been tried and a policy which has failed. Just this morning, I had veterans of the Iraq war visit my office to explain to me that this surge concept is, in fact, no different from what we have repeatedly tried, but with 20,000 troops, we will not in any imaginable way be able to accomplish any new progress."

I realize that Obama seldom says anything concrete, which is likely why his disciples have such difficulty understanding him.
However, there's little doubt that Obama gave no credence to the surge strategy, opposed it, and changed the subject to other criteria after it proved effective.
Kenneth, you caught the change in subject. But it doesn't change Obama's position. |
