I took a brief look at two interesting companies in the algae space: Texas-based Valcent and from San Francisco, the private Solyzyme.

My interest in these two firms at this stage is primarily just at the technology stage. While Valcent is public it's been pretty hard getting any real info on their commercialization plans...which has led me to gather this hasn't really been formulated as of yet.

Nonetheless, the linked video from scribemedia.org is a "must see" for anyone interested in the potential of algae.
