There are a Japanese and an American (..Florida-based..) patent on some of the micro-algae processing that probably requires licensing or alternative approaches to processing the micro-algae. Workarounds are probably adding some time to development by companies pursuing similar goals in specific strains of micro-alage applications.

Reading patent documents is like watching paint dry for me. We need to get donpat over here to nit-pick the guts out of some them.
