That's why we have to "help" people make the right decision... if you got a $5K per year subsidy you would have made a different decision.

Not really - the cars (especially prius) are already sold out and the line is long. A subsidy would only encourage gouging and we'd need to have hearings in congress - even my Honda Fit took three months to get from the date I ordered - and it's not a hybrid.
