GAO sustains Boeing tanker protest: senator 17 minutes ago

U.S. government auditors sided with Boeing Co (BA.N) in its protest of a $35 billion tanker contract award to rival Northrop Grumman Corp (NOC.N) and its European partner, EADS (EAD.PA), Sen. Patty Murray of Washington said on Wednesday.

The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office, a congressional agency that reviews federal contract disputes, was scheduled to rule on Boeing's protest by Thursday. The agency planned to brief some lawmakers and corporate officials about its decision before making it public.

Murray, a Democrat, said in statement the GAO found that the Air Force's tanker award to Northrop had "serious contract flaws" in it.

Shares in Boeing were up 1.79 percent to $75.71 on the New York Stock Exchange, while Northrop Grumman shares were down 1.2 percent to $70.24.
