Hi koan,

It's been a long road for me since 2004, when I took my first tentative step away from the Republican party and voted for Kerry. But I have come to believe much of what you just posted as well. Here's the other problem, though. I do not believe that the human race is collaborative and idealistic enough to come together to solve the climate change problem before it is too late. This world is run by people who are wealthy and who want more wealth and power, damn the consequences. The only time they will change is when they see and feel unequivocally the impact of climate change. But by then, it's already too late. To put it in terms that all neocons will understand, "by the time we see the mushroom cloud, it will be too late". By the time the catastrophes hit with surprising regularity, it will already be too late.

Enough gloom. At least we're going to get Obama. So there is short term hope yet.

P.S. I have read "The Road", and it made me very sad and depressed for a week afterwards. Everything that man writes is excellent, but way too depressing.
